Dubai AI Festival 2026 opens at Dubai World Trade Centre on 26 October with more than 150 speakers, 500 investors and 200 exhibitors expected from over 100 countries. The useful signal for founders is not the event size. Its agenda shows AI moving from demonstrations towards deployment, capital, governance and measurable enterprise value.
Data: Dubai AI Festival and DIFC, 20 to 26 October 2026. FOUAE calculation: the published headcounts equal 2.5 expected investors for every exhibitor, although attendee categories may overlap.
Dubai AI Festival 2026 starts today
Dubai AI Festival 2026 runs on 26 and 27 October at Dubai World Trade Centre. Dubai AI Campus at Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) organises the third edition with the Office of the UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications.
DIFC’s 20 October release expects participants from more than 100 countries, with 150+ speakers, 500 investors, 200 exhibitors and more than 50 roundtables and workshops. Its programme covers agentic AI, enterprise transformation, infrastructure, investment, governance and the future of work.
More importantly, the framing has changed. The official programme asks how AI gets financed, governed and deployed at scale.
DIFC Authority chief executive Arif Amiri called AI “one of the defining drivers of economic growth”.
The investor count is the first number founders should notice
Dubai AI Festival expects 500 investors and 200 exhibitors. On FOUAE’s arithmetic, that is 2.5 expected investors for every exhibitor.
The categories can overlap, and expected attendance is not verified footfall. Even so, the published mix is unusually capital-heavy for a technology exhibition. The organiser is positioning the festival around builders, enterprise buyers, investors and policymakers.
For founders, a strong demo is no longer enough. A company must explain who pays, how an enterprise adopts it, what infrastructure it needs and where regulation could slow deployment.
One plenary session, “Turning AI breakthroughs into scalable markets”, focuses on capital strategy, enterprise adoption, infrastructure readiness and the barriers that stop research becoming commercial growth.
Meanwhile, the wider backdrop is capital-heavy. The UAE is targeting annual foreign direct investment of AED 240 billion, about US$65 billion, by 2031, as FOUAE’s analysis of the UAE FDI target explains.
Agentic AI has moved from buzzword to founder programme
Agentic AI is one of the clearest themes at Dubai AI Festival 2026. In simple terms, an AI agent can plan and carry out a sequence of tasks towards a goal, rather than only responding to one prompt at a time.
At 10:00 GST on the Startup Stage, Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy is running a workshop for the new Create AI Agents Championship. The competition has a total prize pool exceeding AED 2.5 million and accepts ideas, prototypes and early-stage minimum viable products.
The four categories cover societal, personal, business and youth AI agents. Each category winner is set to receive AED 550,000, while the initiative also includes training, workshops and mentorship. Registration runs into December 2026.
More importantly, the programme itself has changed. Dubai has replaced the Create Apps Championship with an AI-agent competition. The previous format drew 15,564 applications from 153 countries and supported more than 140 app launches, according to Dubai Protocol.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed said: “Dubai opens its doors to every inspiring idea that can help change the world.”
As a result, this is more concrete for an early-stage founder than a conference panel. Dubai is putting grant capital, training and a formal competition behind AI-agent businesses.
Enterprise adoption is becoming the real test
Dubai AI Festival 2026 repeatedly returns to one problem: getting AI out of pilots and into operating businesses.
Today’s programme covers AI-first business models, scalable markets, enterprise transformation and trustworthy deployment. A closed-door roundtable also asks what it takes for an organisation to own its AI capability and what those choices cost.
In practice, enterprise buyers increasingly need more than model performance. They need integration, auditability, data controls, security, human oversight and a clear return on deployment.
That is also why infrastructure companies sit beside software companies on the programme. Participants include AWS, Mistral AI, Scale AI, Snowflake, G42 and DAMAC.
FOUAE recently profiled Hussain Sajwani, who is speaking at the festival. His move from property into data-centre infrastructure through DAMAC Digital is one example of the capital now moving underneath the AI software layer.
Governance is becoming a commercial issue, not a policy sidebar
The programme also gives unusually prominent space to AI governance. Sessions cover global rule-setting, responsible deployment, cyber risk, sovereignty and national AI ecosystems.
For founders, this policy has a commercial effect. A company selling AI into banks, healthcare or government can lose a deal if it cannot explain where data sits, how decisions are audited or who remains accountable.
One panel asks who sets the rules for global AI governance. Another focuses on auditability, regulatory alignment and human oversight while maintaining commercial speed.
As a result, governance can become part of the sales case when it is built into the product early.
Dubai is trying to turn AI policy into company creation
Dubai AI Festival sits inside a wider attempt to turn technology policy into company creation. The UAE’s “new economy” counted nearly 125,000 companies by the end of the first half of 2026, up about 37 percent in a year, according to Economy and Tourism Minister Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri. AI, fintech and green technology sit inside that category, as FOUAE’s analysis of the UAE new economy explains.
In turn, the festival connects that policy ambition to capital and customers. The practical test underneath the theme is simple: build something enterprises can buy, investors can finance and regulators can live with.
What founders should watch at Dubai AI Festival 2026
Founders attending the two-day event should watch three things closely.
First, listen for how investors talk about defensibility. Distribution, proprietary data, workflow ownership and switching costs are likely to matter more as model access becomes easier.
Second, watch which use cases move beyond pilots. The strongest signals will be deployments with a named customer, a measurable outcome and a repeatable buying process.
Third, treat regulation as part of product design. Companies that can explain safety and accountability without killing speed will have an easier path into regulated buyers.
The exhibition floor will show what companies are selling. The investor discussions may reveal what buyers and capital will pay for next.
What Dubai AI Festival 2026 means for the UAE startup market
Dubai AI Festival 2026 opens at a point when the UAE is trying to convert AI ambition into operating companies, investment and infrastructure. Its 500 expected investors, AED 2.5 million+ AI Agents Championship and enterprise focus point in the same direction.
In other words, the market is becoming less interested in AI as a feature and more interested in AI as a business system.
For founders, that raises the bar. It also makes the opportunity clearer.
